Drainage and Erosion Control
Drainage and Erosion Control in Waco
Standing water and washouts are the number one reason McLennan County owners call us, and both come down to how the ground is shaped. Artintheamericas grades positive slope away from structures, cuts swales, and installs French drains and detention features so stormwater leaves the lot instead of pooling against a foundation. On disturbed sites over an acre we set the silt fence, inlet protection, and erosion blankets that stormwater rules require.
Why Drainage Fails
Most drainage problems are grading problems in disguise. Negative slope toward the house, a swale filled in over the years, or uncompacted fill that settled into a low spot will all trap water. A yard off Herring Avenue that floods every spring rarely needs a bigger pump; it needs the grade corrected so gravity does the work. We diagnose the cause before we prescribe the fix.
Our Process
We shoot elevations across the site to map where water actually travels, then regrade to establish continuous positive slope away from the building. Swales, a French drain tied to daylight, or a small detention area handle the rest. Throughout the work we hold silt fence and inlet protection in place to meet SWPPP requirements and keep sediment out of the storm system.
